How we collected these figures

This page sets out exactly what we asked buyers to do, what we measured, and what we did not. If a figure appears on our product page, its basis is here.

What participants were asked to do

  1. 1 Photograph before use Same bathroom, daylight only, phone held at a fixed distance, no filters and no flash.
  2. 2 Use one sachet as directed Swish the full sachet for 30 seconds, then spit. No brushing or rinsing afterwards.
  3. 3 Photograph again immediately Same position, same light, same distance, within two minutes of spitting.
  4. 4 Match both photographs to a shade guide One assessor matched every pair, viewing them side by side at the same size.

What this panel does not show

A photo panel run by the brand selling the product is not a clinical trial, and we do not present it as one. These are its real limits.

  • Participants knew which product they were using. There was no control group.
  • Photographs were taken by participants at home, not under controlled studio lighting.
  • The panel measures immediate surface tone, not durability. We did not re-photograph after eating, drinking or brushing.
  • Participants received the product free of charge, which can bias self-reported answers.

Records and requests

Photographs, shade assessments and the participant instructions are kept on file. Journalists, retailers and regulators can request the full set.

Individual results vary. Purple pigment corrects surface tone optically; it does not bleach enamel or alter tooth structure. Participants received the product free of charge and this is disclosed on every figure drawn from this panel.
