The principle

Purple sits opposite yellow

Colours directly opposite each other on the wheel cancel each other out. Put violet over a warm yellow tone and the eye reads the result as more neutral — cooler, brighter, less warm.

That is the whole mechanism. It is optical, it happens on contact, and it works on what you can see rather than on the tooth itself.

Does it actually whiten my teeth?

Not in the bleaching sense. It makes teeth look cooler and brighter by cancelling warm tone. Nothing about the tooth itself changes, which is why it is gentle — and why it is temporary.

How long does it last?

Surface pigment is temporary by design. Most people use one sachet a day, which tops the effect up rather than building it.

Will it stain my tongue?

A faint tint can happen and rinses away with water. Wipe the sink as you would after any coloured product.

Can I use it with veneers, crowns or braces?

Pigment sits on the surface, so it will not damage dental work. It also will not change its colour, which can leave restorations looking warmer than the teeth around them. Ask your dentist if that matters for your case.

Can I use it with peroxide whitening?

Yes. They work on different things — one on stains inside the enamel, the other on surface tone. Follow your dentist's guidance on the peroxide side.
